Hey, I’m Erin, I’m 21 and I’ve just graduated with a BA Sociology with Criminology, but my passion lies in Screen and Stage Arts.
I have loved theatre from a young age ever since my Grandma would take me to ballets and musicals for Christmas every year. I always got involved with school drama productions and did various forms of dance from 2 up until I was 18. I have also long loved film and the cinema. The first movie I saw in the cinema was ‘Ponyo’ and I vividly remember at age 4 being so blown away by the beauty of the animation: to this day, it’s one of my favourite films. Bertie Gilbert, Tim Hautekiet, Sammy Paul, Jack Howard and many others that I could spend a long time naming have fostered my love for film through their discussion of film on YouTube as well as their own projects.
In the few years before the pandemic, the theatre trips had become less frequent but having it go completely from my life because of the pandemic was devastating. As soon as it was safe, I endeavoured to head back to the theatre and ended up seeing ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ in July 2021 and completely fell back in love with the theatre and have since seen over 50 stage productions. I have also reconnected with my love of cinema and have taken any opportunity to see theatre and ballet at the cinema as well as expand on the film genres I enjoy.
In this blog, I hope to share my perspectives on the Theatre and Film I see through reviews, or essays, or analysis, and delve deeper into certain topics within. I hope you will enjoy them.
